Our Platform and Application Administration Manager is a full-time continuing benefits eligible position reporting to the Director of Data, Platform, and Service Operations. In this position, you will be responsible for managing a team of individuals who support platforms and applications administration for systems hosted by IRT's Platform Services for users throughout the School of Medicine. This position will oversee the development and implementation of a cloud-based managed server strategy, enabling migration of servers to cloud infrastructure. This positon will develop an operational plan and budget supporting the strategic plan for Platform Services. In addition, the Platform and Application Administration Manager will interface with colleagues throughout the University and research and roll out new technology to meet the changing needs of client groups throughout the School of Medicine.
This position currently works in our Porter Drive office. We anticipate that this position will move to the new Stanford Redwood City campus in May to late June 2019.
Oversee the management and 24/7 support of 120+ web applications in IRT's Platform Services unit (data center) as well as the servers, storage, backups, and systems necessary to manage these systems and applications.
Exercise full management responsibility for five systems administrators, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, evaluating, and setting priorities.
Ensure work completion within schedule, budgetary, and design constraints; make decisions about analysis, design, and testing; solve complex technical problems; provide alternative methods for achieving goals when necessary.
Create procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with university policy and federal and state regulations.
Develop and manage budgets for projects or work groups.
May oversee or assist in preparation and submission of documentation, such as proposals, progress reports, or other contractual requirements.
Provide strategic planning for own work group; may assist higher level management in broader scope strategic planning for a large, complex, university-wide function or major initiative.
Monitor technology trends and evaluate emerging technologies for adoption and implementation.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to leverage the university/school's investments in information technology.

Experience and knowledge of automated Windows and Linux OS administration.
Experience with complex application architectures, including multiple application dependencies, client certificates, load balancers, centralized storage, and complex network and firewall requirements.
Experience with managing service reliability for numerous services.
Knowledgeable in the secure use of cloud infrastructure.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Detailed understanding of relevant technical knowledge and problem resolution.
Strong customer relationship skills, consensus building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff.
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
Occasionally stand/walk, use a telephone.
Rarely writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
