A Patient Coordinator administers the daily desk operations to ensure excellent customer service and well run clinics for both patients and students while meeting educational and fiscal goals. This position strives to make each phase of treatment a very positive experience for all patients from the initial phone call on through the delivery of care to completion. Provides support to each resident with their patient care management issues allowing them to devote their time to the delivery of patient care. Responsible to carry out the established business practices and policies and procedures set forth by the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
Supports GSDM business operation by:
Daily reviewing all scheduled patients insurance policies, verify eligibility, update account information as necessary and contact patients as needed.
Closing out all appointments and processing charges.
Reconciling the daily cash operation.
Helping patients to understand their financial obligations by printing ledger and discussing treatment/payment policies.
Opening charts for all new(1 st time) patients by completing appropriate school forms, obtaining required consents, verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining prior authorizations where required and entering this information into the patient data base.
Taking payments for the scheduled procedures and providing receipts.
Coordinate all aspects of patient care by:
Answering all incoming calls, screen and direct as needed. Check messages and return calls.
Greeting all scheduled patients, checking them in as arrivals and notifying their doctors.
-Actively listens in the event of a patient complaint, provides feedback, recommends solutions and reaches out to supervisors to resolve issues when needed.
-Scheduling all appointments ensuring continuity of care.
-Assisting patients with coordination of department referrals.
Providing all doctors with their daily/weekly schedules.
Running patient assignment reports for all providers to ensure patients are actively receiving treatment.
Locating and distributing patient records for all appointments.
Assisting doctors when conflicts/emergencies occur in their schedules.
Contacting patients upon receipt of internal referrals and making the next available appointment.
Sending follow up letters when unable to contact.
Monitoring schedules and filling in cancellations for greater chair utilization.
1-3 years of experience and High School diploma required. Vocational/Technical degree preferred.
