Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Spvr-Respiratory Care.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring and coordinating delivery of prescribed respiratory care services through general supervision of respiratory care staff
Demonstrates knowledge of accepted standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities and equipment related to provision of comprehensive respiratory care.
Assesses departmental workload and available staffing levels, equitably assigns staff to ensure timely service delivery, and effectively manages care delivery on assigned shifts.
Ensures staff adherence to Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures as well as accepted standards of practice.
Provides appropriate respiratory care related education to respiratory care staff, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, affiliated students, and other members of the Medical Center community.
Provides leadership, guidance and progressive discipline to assigned staff as required.
Develops and effectively implements plan for management of assigned Service Area; timely completes Service Area assignments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have an Associate's Degree or equivalent in respiratory care with extensive experience in all phases of respiratory care including five years of full-time, direct clinical experience in hospital based, acute respiratory care with demonstrated leadership/management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.New York State respiratory therapist license; Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC - RRT credential). Demonstrated proficiency with all standard forms of respiratory care equipment and techniques including mechanical ventilation and arterial blood gas determination. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in respiratory care, cardiorespiratory sciences or related area; New York State respiratory therapist license; Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC - RRT credential). Ten years full-time experience in all phases of respiratory care including five years of direct clinical experience in hospital based, acute respiratory care, three years full-time respiratory care clinical management experience and two years significant tertiary care perinatal/pediatric experience; NBRC Perinatal/Pediatric specialty credential; BCLS/ACLS Certification. Demonstrated proficiency with all standard forms of respiratory care equipment and techniques including mechanical ventilation and arterial blood gas determination. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
