The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences is inviting applications for an appointment as a clinical intern in the discipline of anesthesia. The position is a 1 year appointment with the academic rank of instructor/intern. This is a full time appointment that is not renewable with an expected start date in July 2018 ending 12 months later. The successful applicant will join an anesthesia faculty that includes 3 ACVAA diplomates and two additional faculty preparing for board certification. Department faculty also include specialists in surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care medicine, cardiology, neurology, dermatology, ophthalmology, oncology, and sports medicine and rehabilitation.
The duties of the successful applicant include participation in the teaching and service missions of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Approximately 75% of assignable effort will be devoted to clinical training, service, and instruction of DVM and LVT students within the anesthesia service (small and large animal). Up to 25% of assignable effort can be devoted to rotations in other specialty services at the discretion of the supervising faculty members. The goal of the internship is to prepare the intern to be highly competitive for a residency in ACVAA.

Minimum qualifications include a D.V.M. degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary school and a valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Michigan.
