We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director of Development.
The Senior Director will be a thought leader directing the fundraising efforts in support of the Perlmutter Cancer Center (PCC). The Senior Director will be charged with seeking principal gifts from grateful patients, grateful patient families, philanthropists, and other interested organizations in support of faculty, programs, and research. The Senior Director will collaborate with key stakeholders (faculty, NYULH administrators, development office professionals, and others) to develop a strategic fundraising plan and implement it to secure pace-setting, philanthropic support with a focus on 7- and 6-figure gifts.
Develop and drive a strategic fundraising strategy in conjunction with PCC leadership
Build relationships and solicit potential donors and volunteers to support programs and priorities
Work with the PCC Board to harness their interest and support, ensuring they are staffed with the knowledge and support to invite others to join them in NYULHs mission
Identify corporate leadership opportunities, leveraging relationships to raise funds
Foster relationships with faculty, physician scientists, leadership to assist in identifying major gift prospects and presenting needs to prospects
Interpret faculty needs internally and externally to request clearance, determine fundraising plans, and increase support
Direct events or receptions to cultivate prospects and steward donors
Develop short- and long-term goals and objectives
Inspire, mentor, and direct a team of development professionals
Must have a Bachelors degree and 12 years of progressively responsible experience in complex development programs, preferably within a health care non-profit institution or cancer center/institute or higher education setting.
Proven leadership, management, and organizational skills as well as experience in designing and executing comprehensive fundraising processes and procedures.
Experience working in a collaborative fundraising setting, including a strong track record of raising cornerstone-level gifts from individuals.
Extensive experience working with senior fundraising volunteers.
The charisma, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base.
A collegial, collaborative, and accessible leadership style, well suited to management in a complex academic medical center setting.
The creativity, energy, and interpersonal skills needed to introduce and champion new ideas and secure transformational philanthropy.
Masters Degree preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
