This is a 10 month position, September 1st through June 30th
This is a full-time, Unclassified, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) and have no claim or entitlement to time off or cash compensation for hours worked beyond their normal schedule. However, unusual requirements for additional work time by these employees may be compensated by allowing roughly comparable amounts of time off, provided prior approval is given by the supervisor and Unit Head.

A Psychological Counselor in the Center for Health and Counseling Services is responsible to the Associate Director and provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psycho-educational programming, and consultation to the College community which includes faculty, staff, and students.
Conducts clinical assessments & makes referrals to community-based services when appropriate
Conducts individual and group counseling
Provides crisis intervention to students
Participates in a rotation with other staff members to cover after-hours psychological emergencies
Writes clinical case reports and notes
Provides prevention and educational outreach services regarding mental health related issues
Serves as the consultant to the Center’s graduate practicum students who are required to develop and conduct an outreach program specifically designed for Ramapo students
Coordinates and markets training to faculty, staff and students about suicide prevention
Maintains the Center’s website
Assists in data collection of on-going clients and satisfaction with counseling services
Consults with other departments within the Division of Student Affairs on mental health issues
Provides training to student groups, faculty, and professional staff regarding mental health issues
Provides supervision to graduate students
Hours may vary depending on the needs of the department and College and will include certain evening hours and holidays when classes are in session. Occasional weekend work (e.g., College Orientations, First-Year Student Move-in Day, Admitted Students Day) will be required.
Licensed Master level professional with degree in mental health, psychology, or social work (LCSW, LPC).
Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology strongly preferred.
New Jersey licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist will be highly considered. If applicant is a psychologist, NJ licensure will be required prior to eligibility of the first multi-year contract.
Minimum three years (four years preferred) of counseling experience
Professional experience in a college counseling center preferred
A Doctoral degree may be substituted for two years of required work experience
Group therapy experience
Experience providing time-limited counseling
