We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director - Development.
The Director of Development plays an important role within the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs and is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to attract funding for NYU Langone Health (NYU Langone). This position is responsible for fundraising from individual donors and prospects at the major gifts level, with a focus on six and seven-figure gifts.
Works with Chair(s), Directors, and physicians to identify, cultivate, solicit, close gifts and steward donors and prospects with wealth capacity to make five through seven-figure gifts.
Participates in one-on-one cultivations and solicitations.
Prepares letters of inquiry and proposals to prospects and donors on behalf of NYU Langone faculty. Researches and writes briefings to prepare NYU Langone officers (e.g. Dean Robert Grossman) and faculty to ensure effective meetings with major donors.
Works collaboratively with gift officers in the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, as well as Foundation Relations and Planned Giving to secure organizational support.
Works closely with physicians to develop event opportunities for cultivating and stewarding major donors and identifying new prospects.
Collaborates with prospect research staff to identify new major gift prospects from the patient database and other prospecting tools.
Reviews listings of current donors who have previously given to the areas of responsibility and develop individual strategies to solicit them for new gifts.
Documents all development activity related to gift solicitations and donor and prospect stewardship and general information in the donor/prospect database.
Works strategically and collaboratively with colleagues throughout the department, within the divisions of Major Gifts, Strategy & Foundation Relations, Campaigns, the Office of the Senior Vice President, Donor Engagement & Communications, Fundraising Analytics, Prospect Research & Management, and Development Administration.
Must have a college degree and at least 5+ years of fundraising experience, preferably at an Academic Medical Center.
Successful track record in Development and Major Gifts at the six and seven-figure level.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Moves Management and Development database experience.
Experience with board development and management.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and fundraising goals.
High level of energy, initiative, and creativity.
Self-motivated, outgoing and results oriented.
Knowledge of internet, e-mail and software applications, including MS Word and Excel.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
