<p>The successful candidate will be assigned duties to include; providing veterinary care to research animals including examination, diagnosis, prescription of medication, performing surgery, and providing methods for humane euthanasia if necessary, opportunities for conducting independent and/or collaborative research, and providing teaching and training to laboratory personnel, veterinary students, and graduate veterinarians.<br /><br />The clinical veterinarian will also provide regulatory and veterinary expertise to researchers via direct consultation, committee participation on the IACUC and/or IBC, and review of research protocols. Additionally, the veterinarian will assist in the identification of areas for process improvement within the department and develop steps for implementation.<br /><br />The veterinarian will also provide services after-hours, holidays, and weekends, including emergency veterinary care in response to physical facility problems to include ventilation, heating, and plumbing emergencies.<br /><br />All offers of employment for this position will be conditioned on the completion of a medical questionnaire, evidence of current tetanus immunization, and/or fitness for duty examination to ensure applicant's ability to work in an environment that may present occupational health and safety hazards associated with the work.</p>
<p>Required Qualifications:<br />Doctor of veterinary medicine or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary school with four years of experience and a license to practice in at least one state.<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications:<br />Training and/or experience in the field of laboratory animal medicine is desirable. ACLAM eligibility or certification is preferred.</p>
