To provide leadership in the strategic and daily operations of this assigned clinical departments and support departments. This includes developing and maintaining physician relations, empowering clinical care givers through solicitation of input and implementation of actions to improve delivery of patient care. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the administrative functions of this clinical service. He/she will supervise the delivery of patient care and has the responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice for the service. Assure achievement of department goals and adherence to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies. Leadership and oversight over major clinical initiatives.
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Masters degree in a health related field or clinical discipline
Minimum Experience Requirements
5 years of management experience and proven leadership experience within acute care hospital
Current Colorado State Nursing License
Specialty nursing certification
Position Duties (Essential Functions) Name
Directs the development of strategic and operational programs for the service area. Plans and implements established departmental and service policies and procedures, which compliment nursing division and hospital policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains satisfactory customer and public relations through
direct or delegated contact. Performs job functions/duties, providing effective verbal and written communication to both internal and external customers. Leads major clinical initiatives as requested.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the service and hospitals' operations and its programs and initiating required changes or improvements.
Coordinates development and tracking of both operational and capital budgets for assigned departments. Assures that resources are allocated within departments to provide optimal patient care. Management of costs as measured by established financial standards.
Establishes service performance goals, allocates resources and evaluates performance. Adjusts staffing to assure adequate levels for patient care delivery. Provides mentoring and coaching
support for service leadership and staff. Collaborates effectively with physicians, peers, staff and administration to promote interdisciplinary communication and cooperation.
Maintains an ongoing analysis of clinical service performance and monitors trends and opportunities. Recommends, initiates and evaluates service improvements to meet the changing market needs. Participates in community organizations.
Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development.
