DUTIES: PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To evaluate manage and initiate care for patients presenting to the Kings County Hospital Emergency Department and to educate and supervise residents and students. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Primary assessment, management, stabililzation and determination of dispositionn on patients who present to the Emergency Department, regardless of age, gender, language spoken, creed, ethnic background or disease process. 2. Take responsibility for the clinical area, including the flow of patients, the management of patients, triage, admitting, discharging, consultations, visitation flow, and overall atmosphere (conduct of language, behavior of staff and consultants). 3. Lead in disaster conditions and direct physicians from other services upon arrival to the Emergency Department. 4. Supervise Residents, Medical and PA students. 5. Participate in the Educational, Research, and Administrative activities of the department. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Emergency Medicine and/or Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Licensed and currently registered to practice Medicine in New York State and have successfully completed BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS.
