Job Description Summary The Department of Clinical Science at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science welcomes applications for the position of Emergency Medicine Onsite Skills Instructor at our Huntley Campus. The Emergency Medicine course consists of one full day of skills training for third year medical students interested in emergency medicine. The skills day covers wound care, intraosseous (IO) and intravascular (IV) access device insertion, advanced airway/airway adjunct use, and fracture care (splinting and immobilization). These skills are taught in a virtual emergency department at our simulation center in Huntley, IL next to Centegra Huntley Hospital. This is a four-week course that repeats throughout the year, therefore, the skills days occur once per month. This is a 0.0 FTE position where instructors will be scheduled based on their availability and the need for instructors on any given skill day.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Review learning materials prior to skills day. • Attend group meetings and orientation sessions regarding skills day. • Preparation of organized approach to each skills session. • Evaluating student skills performance using a grading rubric. • Team teaching and peer feedback. • Yearly individual faculty evaluation meetings with supervising faculty.
Required Education & Experience • Licensed as an EMT-B, EMT-P, or Registered Nurse • Certified in BLS, ACLS • A minimum of 1 year experience in the pre-hospital or emergency department setting • Ability to demonstrate mastery of the emergency skills described above. • An official transcript for the highest degree earned and also the highest clinical degree earned, if different and relevant to the position. • Must achieve a background check clearance.
