The Saint Barnabas Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery Research Assistant will work under the direction of the clinical research coordinator for the smooth implementation and timely completion of the research procedures of all clinical research studies being conducted at the INN (currently 12 studies in progress).
Assist in data management, regulatory paper works and other local administrative tasks as supervised by the clinical research coordinator. Check the signed informed consent forms (ICF) for missing signatures, initials, date, etc. Make folders for newly enrolled participants. Photo copies signed ICFs. Sends copy of signed informed consents to study participants. Files 1 copy to the patient's medical records if the participant is a patient in the practice. Ensure availability of adequate copies of study ICFs and other forms in the forms bin. Prepare ICF packets. Highlight and put tabs on pages to be signed and initialed by participants. Fill up the Database Review Checklist for multiple studies. Updates databases. Mail informed consent forms to prospective participants. Follow up mailed ICFs. Call patients to set up appointments for interviews, blood draws and appointments once enrolled Obtains medical records. Check medical records received to ensure that they contain the necessary information. Copy, de-identify, and upload medical records using the FTP software. Retrieve patients' charts for the Primary Investigator (PI), as needed. Check patient's records for MRIs and EEGs and flag them for PI's approval. Work with EEG or MRI department to get correct EEGs or MRIs required by clinician. Scan and/or upload EEGs , MRIs, and paper records to database using FTP software. Attend clinic meetings and staff meetings.
