The University Club of Washington is currently looking for a Front of the House Director. The person in this position is not a state employee. The University of Washington Club is a non-profit, private club on the UW Campus that is separate from the UW.

With breathtaking views of Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, the club's unique venue offers its members and their guests a friendly place to meet, impeccable service, and world-class cuisine that is both locally-sourced and lovingly prepared.
The Service Manager is the main individual who serves and manages the UW Club's Service Program. They are also a participating member of the UW Club Leadership Team. When no direct-reporting Leadership Team Members are present, the Service Manager is the acting Manager-on-Duty and is required to keep the UW Clubs interests in mind when making decisions as the Manager-on-Duty. It is an emphasized and respectful to collaborate and support the Beverage Manager with applicable Front of House management needs as it relates to any Front of House service performed at the UW Club as well as advise and assist on various of service Beverage Program matters. This team member must be an extremely personable individual with the ability to positively connect, deliver, and motivate in not only a service related context, but a sociable one as well, both as an asset to the membership/guests and the UW Club Team. This role is best fulfilled with an understanding of how to adapt to changes, preferences, and needs of those they serve and lead as well as provide extensive knowledge and delivery of the UW Club Service Program, its products, services, management, Team Member relations, and training.

This position must be available to work weekends, evenings, certain holidays, and mornings to support the completion of services as needed.
Knowledge of food and beverage operations and principles of service.

Ability to devise both usual, unusual, innovative, or creative ideas and solutions for various functions and problems.
Ability to proactively and effectively communicate both orally, electronically, and in writing.
Assure a high standard of appearance both personally and in all service areas.
Knowledgeable of all aspects of the Front of House department, the Service Program, the Beverage Program, and daily Club operations, including but not limited to scheduled events and operating hours.
Acts ethically and honestly at all times and understands their role as an example of leadership within the Club.
Assure that federal, state, and local laws in addition to Club policies and procedures as it relates to Front of House services and the Service Program are consistently adhered to.
Knowledge of and ability to perform required Front of House roles during emergency situations.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
Understand and maintain responsibilities and standards as they relate to the UW Club Leadership Team and the UW Club's policies, especially in instances during active performance as the Manager-on-Duty.
Maintain an elevated level of active collaboration with the Service Manager on Front of House matters.
Delegate, lead, train, and work with Front of House Team Members in collaboration with the Beverage Manager to ensure the Club's ideal level of output, efficacy, and expectations.
Work with the Leadership Team to develop, select, and purchase services, products, prices, menus, recipes, equipment, and supplies.
Count and manage an effective inventory of beverages and beverage related equipment.
Collaborate promotional strategies and marketing efforts with the Leadership Team as it relates to the Service Program.
Develop procedures and services with goals towards consistently improving the Service program of the UW Club.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of The UW Club, other Front of House related areas, and equipment through regular inspections, reporting, delegation, and cleaning.
Develop standard operating procedures and security measures with the Beverage Manager to assure that the UW Club and other Front of House related areas are operated efficiently and safely.
Maintain the supply of linen and other Front of House related supplies within the UW Club Service Program.
Recruits, trains, and supervises Servers of any kind according to established Club procedures created in collaboration with the Beverage Manager.
Develop product, revenue control systems, and procedures to reduce or eliminate crime and waste and keep beverage and Front of House supplies costs in alignment with budgeted goals.
Assure that all laws applicable to beverage operations are consistently followed and report updates.
Inspect, update, and report to the UW Club Team regarding the Club's sanitation, safety, energy management, preventative maintenance, waste, trends, member preferences, and product news as they relate to Service Program operations.
Handle questions, complaints, and requests from Club members, guests, distributors, and vendors as they relate to the Service Program, Front of House Department, Club Events, and Catered Events overall as necessary through various mediums such as but not limited to verbal, written, or electronic.
Assist with service and management for and during the UW Club's general operating hours, Lunch service, Catered Events, and Club Events when scheduled or when appropriately deemed necessary.
Active attendance and participation in meetings and retreats with the Front of House Team, Leadership Team, and the General Manager/Assistant General Manager.
Complete other appropriate work assignments as requested by the General Manager or Assistant General Manager
