We are currently seeking a Forensic Nurse to join the Emergency Department at the Nemours/ AI DuPont Hospital for Children. This position with full time, 60 hours every two weeks, mid shift with rotation, every 4th weekend with holiday ( Holiday is 1 winter (eve and day), 1 summer) and call requirement (Call requirement is 8 hours of call per week.)
The Nemours AI duPont Hospital for Children Forensic Nursing Team since establishment in 2012 is a rapidly growing team, which sees approximately 600 patients per year. We are seeking a full time Registered Nurse to join our highly skilled and motivated team. The position provides direct patient care relative to management in an emergency department setting. The Forensic Nurse Examiner is responsible for providing comprehensive care for patients who may have experienced abuse or violence (i.e. sexual abuse/assault, physical abuse/assault.)
The FNE considers the medical, social and psychological needs of their patients, as well as their potential forensic and legal needs and outcomes.
The FNE uses the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation and evaluation) to develop an individualized plan of care for each patient and sees that it is implements to achieve the best outcomes for each patient.
Consult in an interdisciplinary manner on assigned patients
Documents clinical encounters clearly and precisely
Acts as educator and clinical resource for staff through consultation
Participate in ongoing case reviews and process improvement
Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure required
Active Delaware Advanced Practice Nurse Licensure required (IF APN Candidate)
Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required
At least 6 months of prior experience
Forensic Nurse Examiner Certification
