The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at West Virginia University is seeking applications for the position of Athletic Trainer. The position will supervise the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries for sports as assigned by the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Oversee activities related to the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries.
Administer emergency care and make medical referrals
Maintain a system of injury records on appropriate student-athletes and maintain the status of an Athletic Training Preceptor.
Supervise athletic training students assigned to the athletic training room and the respective sport(s).
Assist with the maintenance and oversight of therapeutic equipment in the athletic training room.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Athletic Training Services.
Work Hours: Varies – Must work extended hours including nights and weekends.
Length of Assignment: 12 Months
Master's degree in a related field of study.
One (1) year athletic training experience is required. Graduate assistant experience may also be considered.
Knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics
Knowledge of NCAA and conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations
Knowledge of state and University policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to function professionally under high stress circumstances
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks for extended period of time
Demonstrated ability to independently plan and organize work
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Demonstrated knowledge of record keeping and adherence to schedule
Ability to stay abreast of information impacting the affected area
Ability to maintain proper unit attendance and punctuality standards, work extended hours including nights and weekends
Ability to communicate effectively and comprehensively, both verbally and in writing
