Path BioAnalytics, Inc. (PBA) is an emerging biotech company based in Chapel Hill, NC. We are developing assays and databases for precision medicine by combining innovative epithelial cell culture technology with proprietary analytics. We are deploying our technology to accelerate the discovery, development and use of new effective medications for diseases that impact the respiratory system, in particular cystic fibrosis. PBA is seeking a Research RN to oversee and manage clinical research involving PBA’s technology. The candidate must have strong leadership qualities and prior experience working with individuals with cystic fibrosis.
You will be expected to take ownership and lead internal and external projects. Your work will have a significant impact on the trajectory of clinical and translational research on cystic fibrosis.
Your duties will include:
•Recruit patients for research studies ensuring subject eligibility, screen patients, track patients' data and explain the purpose and content of each study. Follow the proper consenting procedure for patients and/or family members to obtain informed consent.
•Perform nursing care, assessment, and data collection for clinical research studies.
•Coordinate clinical research data collection from patient records (paper and electronic), sponsor documents (electronic and paper) and other data forms for pharmaceutical studies, federal studies, or investigator-initiated studies. May also report information to other physicians and granting agencies.
•Collect, label, store and ship specimens
•Develop procedures for inpatient and outpatient research activities, follow protocols in the scheduling of tests and procedures.
•Train other research nurses in specialized skills and knowledge necessary to perform variety of basic and complex research data collection and nursing care, provide in-service education to staff members as appropriate.
•Provide working direction for research activities to nursing staff and/or other non-licensed medical or office support personnel.
•Assist in resolving problems relating to patient care and act as a patient advocate. Give counsel to patients with respect to medical conditions and provides appropriate guidance related to research activities.
•Remotely monitor and evaluate patients involved in research studies, including their response to therapy. Advise physicians and the sponsor on current conditions including possible side effects of therapy. Report adverse events through the appropriate sources per the policy of the protocol and IRB regulations.
•Assist in organizing and preparing data for publication.
•Coordinate, if appropriate, all regulatory aspects for each study, which may include budgets, contracts, IRB submissions, and other required committee submissions. Respond to internal and/or external audit requests.
•May be required to attend and participate in out of town meetings/conferences (infrequent).
•Maintain inventory of investigational mediation, devices or approved medication for each protocol and acts as liaison between investigator pharmacy as each protocol requires. Perform other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program, licensed to practice in North Carolina, CPR certification, at least 2 years experience with cystic fibrosis care, strong writing and computer skills
