The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a full-time (100%) Research Associate who will develop, coordinate and report on medical student and resident research activities in the Department of Emergency Medicine under the direction of the Director of Research Operations.
Position responsibilities may include:
Participate in the design and execution of Emergency Medicine related research studies involving medical students and residents.
Assist with IRB applications, research progress tracking on scholarly projects, and manuscript preparation and submission.
Assist Emergency Medicine faculty and research staff with grant budget development and planning.
Co-mentor, with Faculty Mentor, medical students and residents completing research in the Department of Emergency Medicine on all aspects of clinical human subject's research.
Review literature as requested. Adapt and perform protocols from the literature. Critically review literature for the purposes of furthering the research and developing new hypotheses in conjunction with other investigators.
Design portions of research plan. Monitor, test and evaluate current procedures. Identify and adhere to Quality Assurance practices to maintain validity and integrity of research data. Apply new methods/theories.
Assist in the design of manuals, questionnaires, and forms.
Assist in preparing publications and presentations. Will contribute to the technical writing of papers, manuscripts, grant applications and published materials as evidenced by prior work.
Present results/findings at team and departmental meetings; may present at local and national meetings.
Make recommendations regarding the validity of research subjects and data.
Submit routine IRB, ACURF or similar protocol submissions, if applicable.
Oversee the planning and preparation of grant budgets.
Coordinate software licenses as necessary to complete projects.
Provide ongoing training on fundamental and emerging clinical research techniques and protocols for medical students and residents. Provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to track progress and assure outcomes are achieved.
May participate in hiring staff and managing the performance of staff.
