As a Clinical Associate Appointee in the Department of Pediatrics, Bayview Division located at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, your primary responsibility is to provide direct patient care as an attending pediatric hospitalist in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Pediatric Hospitalists will provide pediatric care 24 hours a day 7 days a week for all pediatric patients presenting to The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Shifts will be 12 hours in length and will include weekends and overnight. You will be expected to work on and around holidays.
You are being hired as 1.0 FTE, representing 40 hours per week. Scheduled patient care services in the form of 12 hour shifts. The remainder of your time will be devoted to administrative duties.
The diagnosis, treatment and management of all pediatric patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
The diagnosis, treatment and management of all pediatric patients admitted to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Campus.
Hospitalists will be expected to provide back-up coverage to ensure that there is at least one hospitalist on premises at all times.
Hospitalists will provide back-up care for the nurse triage system of the Children's Medical Practice located on the Bayview campus.
Hospitalists will lead the Pediatric Code Team for emergencies that may arise on the campus.
Hospitalists will offer consultation and assistance to other areas within the hospital on an as needed basis.
Hospitalists will act as a supervising physician for the Physician Assistants in accordance with their specific written agreements.
Hospitalists will precept healthcare students, pediatric interns and residents, and will provide feedback and evaluation on their performance.
Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, billing for services rendered, written documentation and dictation, daily progress note writing and direct communication with primary care physicians.
Further responsibilities will include participation in Departmental meetings/conferences as scheduled and contribution towards the departmental goals and objectives. Hospitalists will proactively look to enhance growth and performance on a personal level and program level. You will be expected to comply with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements and maintenance of certification and competence in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Licensure by State of Maryland Board of Physicians
Board Certified Pediatrician.
Successful completion of 3 years Pediatric Residency.
DEA Certification and State of Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Certification.
Credentialed at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Bayview Medical Center and related hospitals as necessary.

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
