The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a licensedVeterinary Technician for its Small Animal Hospital. The primary purpose ofthis position is to provide entry-level nursing care by making patientassessments, performing triage, and preparing patients for exams ortreatments.Rotates between hospitalservices to provide veterinary nursing coverage when the respective service hasan unusually large caseload or when the regular service technician is absent. Positionassists with performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results and recordspatients' medical histories and symptoms, including observations.Position administers medicine and treatments,establishes plan of care, and operates medical equipment.Position also supports teaching efforts byinstructing students, interns, and residents.Services include:
·Emergency(day and after hours)
·Surgery(circulating and direct patient care)
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of veterinary nursing.Effective communication skills, including theability to show compassion.Excellent judgmentand decision-making skills.Good timemanagement skills. Ability to express patience and deal with high levels ofstress.Ability to pay close attentionto detail.Ability to lift, assist, andtransport patients.
