Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Physician II to work within Bayside State Prison, located in Leesburg, New Jersey. The Physician II is responsible for providing medical services to inmates of the Department of Corrections, which are consistent with community standards of care. Serves as liaison for clinical matters with medical providers outside of the system and must be available to provide on-call services.
Reports to assigned State Prison at designated hour to examine referred patients.
Provides emergency care, routine medical care, preventive medical care and education to patients.
Assures implementation and ongoing status of on-site chronic clinics.
Rounds daily in the infirmary and documents patient's status in the progress notes of the infirmary medical record.
In conjunction with site Medical Director, prescribes medications from the formulary for inmate's healthcare needs.
In cooperation with Medical Director, provides professional consultation to all members of Health Services team relative to inmate's health care management.
Participates in development of in-service programs and maintains public relations with other healthcare disciplines.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Must be a licensed physician in the State of New Jersey.
Current DEA registration, CDS and CPR certifications.
Must be eligible for Board certification and qualified by the state laws/regulations to practice medicine.
Experienced in a primary care specialty.
Valid driver's license.
Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation to travel from one site to another.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
