USMD part of OptumCare is a multi-specialty group of hospital, clinics and physicians. USMD serves the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area with more than 250 physicians and associate practitioners, and provides healthcare services to patients in more than 20 different specialties at its 2 hospitals, 4 cancer treatment centers and nearly 50 physician clinics, many of which are multi-specialty. The RN Coordinator is a member of the care delivery team. The RN Coordinator is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The RN Coordinator has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The RN Coordinator manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the RN Coordinator encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The RN Coordinator establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The RN Coordinator demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession. **Monday - Friday 8am to 5 pm shift** Primary Responsibilities:Provides leadership and guidance to other leaders and staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management and outcome achievement Defines performance objectives and metrics for the department, mentors and assess the level of competence of staff in a timely manner Demonstrates desired behaviors and encourages and creates an environment where it is safe for everyone to talk about real and potential vulnerabilities without fear of reprisal Demonstrates the ability to manage change and help other to do the same Collaborates with other departments to create systems and problem issues that impact departmental/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery Demonstrates fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources Incorporates quality improvement data, patient satisfaction data into departmental goals and organizational safety Demonstrates a clear understanding of regulations applicable to patient care and/or other department functions Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation form Confirms patient identity via use of two patient identifiers and checks patient identification bracelet before procedures Provides appropriate updates, instructions and patient education information to patient and family Follows the hospital exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens Communicates with peer and management any safety hazards identified in the workplace Demonstrates an understanding of cultural differences Participates in the performance improvement process within the Hospital and department Delivers nursing care to assigned group of patients including education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, treatment planning, pain management and discharge planning utilizing the nursing process Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action Collaborate with Nursing Manager in development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization and nursing standards Implements orientation program for nursing staff, identifies the needs and recommends staff development and education programs Assist with the design and implantation of curriculum for clinical competence of staff and maintain ongoing evaluations of staff competencies Assist Manager on recruitment, interviews, selection/hiring, and staff retention Conducts concurrent audits of patient care records to determine documentation compliance and makes recommendations for improvement Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of patient care utilizing the Quality Assurance process and utilizes quality improvements Assist with development of a yearly departmental Performance Improvement Plan Assist in the management of a comprehensive program to ensure Joint Commission on Accredited Healthcare Organization standards are met Checks availability and assures equipment is in good working condition and reports findings to Nurse Manager Collaborates and communicates with supply coordinator regarding department supply needs Establishes a compassionate environment providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards: measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards: making or recommending necessary adjustments: following the standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act and other governing agency requirements Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions Records patients' medical information and vital signs Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans Modify patients' nursing care plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information as observed by peers and management Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance May be asked to perform in the role of Charge Nurse and may be tasked with additional responsibilities as directed Attends all required department-specific education and training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job related hazards Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions Wears proper identification while on duty Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Current RN Licensure, either Texas or Compact BLS, ACLS and PALS (ER only) 3+ years of clinical experiencePreferred Qualifications:ENPC and TNCC Supervisor experienceCareers with USMD.
