GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Coordinates daily activities of UC Libraries IT Operations and Services including library IT help desk, desktop services, inventory management, conference room/classroom AV/IT support and student technology center, servers and library online catalog.
RELATIONSHIP AND AUTHORITY: Reports to Director of UC Libraries IT Operations and Services Department. Supervises IT staff and team of students. Works closely with all UC Libraries units and UC College & Departmental libraries for technology support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the day-to-day management of IT Operations and Services including library IT helpdesk, desktop services, inventory managementconference room/classroom AV/IT support student technology center, servers, library Systems, and proxy server.
Ensures reliable and effective functioning of library IT helpdesk services, IT infrastructure, and coordinates with IT@UC on infrastructure issues.
Oversees device imaging and management of equipment inventory utilizing current enterprise resources such as SCCM and Microsoft Active Directory.
Provides technical support for applications, systems and emerging technologies that interact with our integrated library systems which serve as gateways for users to UC Librarie' collections and services.
Supervises assigned staff and team of IT students including hiring, orienting, training, and evaluation.
Assists the IT Director in the direction, coordination, and administration of UC Libraries IT Operations and Services.
Evaluates and recommends hardware and system software procurement.
Contributes to planning and implementing new technologies and overall project management in support of library users.
Fosters effective communication, builds collaborative relationships, and serves as liaison between UC Libraries staff, UCIT, and UC Libraries IT Operations and Services.
Participates in strategic planning activities for the UC Libraries IT Operations and Services Department.
Participates on UC Libraries committees and action teams crossing various departments providing expertise.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related degree with two (2) years' experience OR a Bachelor's degree with four (4) years' experience OR an Associate degree with six (6) years' experience or eight (8) years of experience.
Experience and/or training include advanced level experience.
Possesses broad and deep knowledge of own area and related areas and contributes advanced knowledge, skill, and expertise.
2 years supervisory experience
Experience with Windows and macOS, Microsoft Office applications, Adobe applications, Active Directory,SCCM, network troubleshooting, and web based support
Effective project management skills as well as strong commitment to innovative and responsive customer service
Familiarity with emerging and innovative technologies in areas such as AR, VR, AI, information management, cyber security, data analytics
Familiarity with Linux, server scripting and the cloud environment
