Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Director of Human Resources & Academic Affairs, the Academic Affairs Coordinator provides administrative coordination to ensure faculty and trainees are efficiently and compliantly guided and supported throughout the continuum of their experience, including onboarding, immigration, academic and postdoctoral affairs, annual compliance, appointments, reappointments, promotions and separation.
1.Appointments, Promotions & Credentialing: Under the direction of the Director, works with faculty, clinical affiliates, The Offices of Faculty Affairs, Postdoctoral Affairs, and Immigration, to effectively coordinate appointments, promotions and credentialing of faculty and trainees including clinical affiliates of New York-Presbyterian Hospital for the Department of Emergency Medicine.
2.Human Resources: Partners with the Director to provide guidance on policies and procedures to faculty and staff to support employee relations concerns and other HR related issues.
Manages coordination of onboarding documents for staff recruited via CUMC. Acts as liaison to Service Corp as it relates to recruitment and disciplinary action. Compiles demographic and statistical reports, rosters and other operational and management reports. Researches and drafts policies, procedures and other documentation as directed.
3.Alumni Affairs, Development & Outreach: Supports special projects related to the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and donor groups including alumni.
4.Compliance: Continuously stays abreast of information regarding regulations, policies and requirements of various regulatory bodies including Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), NewYork Presbyterian Hospital, and Columbia University. Provides guidance to faculty, trainees and staff to ensure effective implementation and compliance. Participates in regulatory audits and inspections; works to correct deficiencies if identified.
5.Cross covers other related administrative positions and performs other duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Progressive experience in an academic medical center.
Administrative experience in Human Resources or Faculty Affairs a plus.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and web-based database applications required.
Ability to work under pressure with multiple and competing deadlines required. Must be highly organized, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position requires excellent customer service skills, must possess a professional and positive attitude.
Must have proven record of ability to work as part of a team, with administrative, clinical, research, and financial staff.
