The Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine invites applications for an open rank clinical faculty position as the Director of Ultrasonography within the Body Imaging Division in the Department of Radiology.
This position will join our growing Body Imaging Division and be charged with oversight and development of the body ultrasound service. The service is extremely busy, with a large intervention practice. The successful candidate will serve as the medical director for this service and have administrative responsibilities. Applicants must be board certified by the American Board of Radiology. In addition to clinical activities, teaching and call duties are shared across the division. Research startup funds and protected time to pursue academic interests are available.
About the Department of Radiology:
The Radiology Department includes thirty-seven staff physicians, fourteen fellows, fifteen Ph.D. researchers, and thirty-six residents. The Department operates six clinical 64 to 128 and dual source MDCT scanners. There are six clinical MR scanners including a 3T. Construction is approved for a PET/MR. The Department has a strong research record in imaging, and the Department is responsible for the multidisciplinary Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging ( https://www.iibi.uiowa.edu/).
The Ultrasound division performs over 14,000 diagnostic procedures per year focused on abdominal imaging and 2500 ultrasound guided interventional procedures. The division is staffed by 14 sonographers who hold multiple specialty certifications. There are seven ultrasound rooms equipped with GE and Phillips ultrasound.
The Department of Radiology offers a Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, accepting eight students per year. The US Director will play a role in oversight of this program.

Fellowship training in body imaging.
Board certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Radiology.
Working experience in all aspects of Body Imaging, in particular cross-sectional imaging and fluoroscopic procedures.

Fellowship training in body ultrasound.
Expertise in ultrasound microbubble contrast.
