Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy
Bassett Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join an established and nationally recognized clinical pharmacy team, and practice primarily in the area of Clinical Pharmacy Practice. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to promote desirable patient outcomes as well as, promote education and understanding of same throughout the clinical and decentralized pharmacy services and across the Bassett Healthcare Network. Possible practice areas include, but are not limited to: Adult Inpatient Medicine, Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Pain Management and/or Ambulatory Care (Anticoagulation Therapy Management), or as determined by the interests and training of the candidate.
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will be actively engaged in precepting medical and pharmacy students, medical residents and other practitioners. The hospital maintains a strong academic program and rich tradition as a center for learning through its affiliation with Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, where adjunct clinical faculty status is possible. Opportunities for clinical and outcomes based research strongly encouraged, with leadership capabilities in these fields preferred. Internal support for scholarly activities is available internally through the Bassett Research Institute. The successful candidate will also hold appointments to Institutional Professional Committees as applicable to practice and interest.
About Bassett Medical Center: Bassett Medical Center and affiliates is a partnership of diverse healthcare settings, including physicians, providers, hospitals and community health centers. Services are provided in 8 counties (6 are considered Medically Underserved Areas), covering 5,000 square miles. The Bassett Medical Center, the foundation for this network, is a 180-bed, acute care inpatient teaching facility in Cooperstown. The Bassett Clinic is located on the same campus as the hospital and provides outpatient primary and specialty care. Additionally, Bassett offers 24-hour emergency and trauma care, comprehensive cancer care and heart care, dialysis, and most medical and surgical specialties in Cooperstown. Bassett is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Education/Qualifications: • Completion of an accredited pharmacy college program, PharmD degree or BS Pharm with at least 2 years of clinical experience. • Post-Doctoral Residency and/or Fellowship training in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and/or Infection Disease required • Certification in any sub-specialties, preferably BCPS, is not mandatory but strongly encouraged.
Experience: • Ability to conduct medical sub-specialty type in- and outpatient consultations in various areas of clinical pharmacy, with a special emphasis in critical care and infectious disease. • Specialized training, or the equivalent experience, in clinical research preferred. • Ability to provide effective teaching in the area of clinical pharmacy for various types of healthcare professionals. • Advanced training experiences in Infectious Disease, Pain and Palliative Care and/or Anticoagulation therapy a bonus.
Licensure/Certificates: • New York State Licensure and Registration, or eligibility.
