This is a full-time, hourly position based at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. The hospital functions seven (7) days a week/twenty-four (24) hours per day. All employees, both management and hourly, must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet hospital demands.

The Telecommunicator II performs the duties and responsibilities of two distinct departments: Private Branch Exchange (PBX) (or switchboard) and Alarm Dispatch Center (ADC).
Maintains competency to provide the care and services as it applies to the department's patient/customer population and as defined in the department's Scope of Service document.
Responds to requests, s or observed situations requiring emergency and non-emergency assistance; determines event type, priority and response needed; dispatches responders in a timely manner; makes notifications appropriate to situation; utilizes cameras and other systems to monitor situation through completion, supplying additional resources as necessary using telephones, switchboard equipment, voice and digital pagers, intercoms, overhead announcement system, two-way radio equipment and other communication devices; documents all notifications made and actions taken with accuracy and completeness; performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
Provides primary dispatch services to MHS Security by monitoring and responding to all radio transmissions and phone calls from Security personnel, monitoring security surveillance cameras, scanning various areas of the hospital with the use of pan, tilt, zoom and fixed analog and digital cameras and camera recording and playback equipment, dispatching Security personnel to respond to security and safety-related emergency and non-emergency situations; coordinates responses with outside law enforcement, fire and EMS agencies.
Receives and processes calls to the MHS PBX and Alarm Dispatch Center which include transfer and referral requests to more than 300 departments and 15 facilities within the health system. Calls are received from patients, visitors, clinical and non-clinical staff, volunteers, vendors, media and citizens within and beyond the local community for information regarding such services as billing, scheduling, medical records, nutrition services, classes, directions, hours of operation of various MHS facilities and departments, requests to locate and/or speak with employees, patients and other miscellaneous inquiries.
Monitors safety and security systems throughout the health system including thousands of medical, life safety and security devices at hospital campuses and numerous off-site facilities via medical code and fire alarm control panels, surveillance cameras, panic/holdup/duress/elevator/red pole Card Access 3000 badge access system; participates in device testing and trouble-shooting to maintain optimum operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Completes all assigned health system and department CBTs, training, quizzes, assessments and assignments with passing scores, reads all work-related emails, policies, guidelines, updates and notices in a timely manner, participates in security and safety drills to maintain highest levels of knowledge and proficiency.
Notifies appropriate support personnel of issues affecting health system and department operations in a timely manner to include notifications to IS, Telecommunications and Support Operations.
Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor(s), manager and/or directors.
High School Diploma or GED
2 years of customer service experience in a high pressure environment
Must be able/willing to work all shifts
Experience in a large, high-volume, high-pressure call center environment
Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task
Healthcare or medical experience
