Advertised Summary Job Description: The Physician Assistant will provide services to the Emergency Medicine Department. Render direct patient care in all areas of the ED including but not limited to: obtaining patients' history, performing physical examinations, ordering and evaluating appropriate laboratory, radiographic and electrocardiographic studies. Make diagnostic assessments, begin management plans, and perform diagnostic, therapeutic and laboratory procedures in accordance with training. He/she will also assist in the management of medical and surgical emergencies. Assist the attending physician on any procedure falling within the Physician Assistant's scope of practice. Initiate subspecialty consultations or evaluations, counsel and instruct patients and their families. Render appropriate care in the presence of a life-threatening emergency when a physician is unavailable and document all care rendered in accordance with ER policies and procedures. Is required to have all notes countersigned by attending physician, participate in in-service training and perform patients' triage.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires bachelors degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program plus four years' related experience, along with NYS licensure and NCCPA certification.
