This position is specifically for our Medication History Technician assignment. The certified pharmacy technician will be primarily based in the Emergency Department. The technician will directly interact with patients and their caregivers to conduct interviews and gather accurate information about patients' home medication lists.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
Experience: Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required within 9 months of hire. Successful completion of Pharmacy Service Line competencies is required within 6 months of hire. Must complete Orientation Competencies. Valid drivers license required.
Other: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications with attention to detail/accuracy. Must demonstrate customer service abilities. Knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard, required. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
