Under the general direction of Food and Nutrition Services Manager, performs duties relative to the assembly and distribution of meals, and dish room or clean-up procedures after the meal service. Will rotate between set-up positions, distribution and clean up duties. Standards will be used to serve attractive, nutritious, temperature safe food products. Will apply positive customer relation techniques consistently.

Inventories food/supplies according to par levels. Loads, delivers, stores it in an acceptable and efficient way. Replenishes supplies for stations in a timely manner.
Assembles and portions menu items such as desserts, salads, sandwiches, gelatin and fruits according to portion control standards. Operates, cleans, sanitizes equipment including blenders, grinders, coffee makers, cash registers, dish machines, ice cream makers and juice machines.
Utilizes food handling guidelines as indicated by the food code, including hand washing, glove use and cleaning and sanitizing food contact surfaces and equipment. Labels and identifies expiration dates of foods according to policy.
Is able to handle cash process with customers including charging correct amounts and returning correct change to the customer.
Possess the ability to demonstrate good customer service skills and have the ability to deal courteously and respectfully with customers.
Documents the temperature of specified foods and refrigerator/freezer units. Makes necessary adjustments and reports problems when temperature is out of range.
Follows all standards when delivering food trays/food products to patient, visitors or staff.
Charge duties as assigned: Reassigns duties of absent employees to personnel to balance workload, or secures a replacement as needed. Responsible for making sure all duties for the shift are completed. The status of duties not completed at the end of the shift are communicated to the following shift and/or area manager. Opens and/or closes section or department. Communicates pertinent information to the supervisor and personnel, including any emergencies and action taken as soon as possible. Provides assistance with training and participates in evaluation process for staff.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to perform proper food handling and sanitation techniques.
Able to perform basic math calculations, make accurate change with money, and perform appropriate use of measuring utensils.
Must be able to follow instructions and have the ability to perform duties with a reasonable level of coordination and speed.
Must deal in a courteous and respectful manner with people.
Must have the ability to read and understand basic diet information.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
On the job training is provided. Previous food service experience or customer service experience is preferred.
