Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Refrigeration Helper.
In this role, the successful Refrigeration Helper candidate, under the direction of the Director of Engineering, will be responsible for Refrigeration Shop managed by the RED+F Department. Responsibilities include Under the supervision of a shop manager and foreman, perform the duties peculiar to, and normally required in, the trade of refrigeration, following accepted procedures and techniques of the refrigeration trade as per the departmental guidelines.
Keeps the work area neat at all times. Follows safety procedures and requirements as requested by the Department and Institution. Sanitizes ice machines and cleans water filters as needed. Responsible for cleaning A/C units, change filters, condensers as requested
Protects public in working areas from bodily harm at all times. Protects equipment and tools from damage.
Change water filters for ice machines.
Transports materials, tools, and equipment to the work site as needed. Requests material, tools, and equipment as needed from foreman and stockroom.
Checks readiness of equipment for specialized work. Monitors and maintains inventory of disposals used old refrigeration equipments, parts, filters.
Assists mechanic with all repairs, test, replace, install, and maintain refrigeration equipment; refrigerators, walk-in boxes, freezers, A/C units, ice machines and refrigeration related equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High school graduation or trade school degree in 3 (three) years of experience working in Construction, Real Estate, Architectural, Facilities or Health Services organization. Demonstrated experience to covers the full spectrum of refrigeration equipment at the Medical Center. This includes the hospital environmental as well as educational and research facilities. He/she will be required to work in all areas of the plant where the refrigeration equipment is located, as well as outdoors in all weather.
Preferred Qualifications: Must be able to individually lift a minimum of 100 lbs. And be able to, with assistance, move and transport materials and equipment weighing in excess of 200 lbs. He must be able to work in confined areas requiring bending or stooping for long periods and be able to work from ladders or elevated platforms. Must have hear-visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision and color vision are needed in making connections on various types of equipment. Refrigeration engineers work covers full spectrum of buildings and activities at the Medical Center. This includes the hospital environment as well as educational and research facilities. They will be required to work in all areas of the plant as well as out doors in all weather.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
