Since 1982, LUCHA (Latin United Community Housing Association) has served thousands of moderate and low-income families with Affordable Housing Development, Emergency Housing Repair and Assistance, Home Buyer Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention and Legal Assistance. LUCHA owns and operates 153 units of affordable housing in the West Town, Humboldt Park and Logan Square Communities, and counsels families around Chicago and in the Midwest region. LUCHA also partners with residents, community organizers, financial institutions and government agencies to maintain its $22 million in real estate assets and to advocate for greater affordable housing options in the region.
In support of LUCHA’s mission, the Desk Clerk contributes to the accomplishment of practices and objectives of the Property Management Department. The Desk Clerk assists the Property Manager in the operation of the single room occupancy (SRO) development, maintaining order and security in the building, and ensuring that all rules are followed. In all instances the Desk Clerk must perform in accordance with and be committed to LUCHA’s mission.
Role and Responsibilities
Perform front desk duties including, but not limited to: maintaining building logs in order (e.g. sign in/out logs and incident reports), keeping the Property Manager informed of any and all incidents, completing incidents reports and keeping all the information confidential.
Inform interested applicants of the application process.
Monitor the camera system at all times and follow recording procedures.
Receive and submit work orders to Property Manager to keep all building components and equipment in excellent condition.
Receive and direct visitors either on the phone or in person in a professional and courteous manner while relaying appropriate information.
Assist the Property Manager in informing tenants of any special social or community activities scheduled in the building.
Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Ability to perform tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
Conscientious and detail oriented.
Ability to represent the Company in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Must demonstrate integrity and commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
Scope of Responsibility:
Work with minimal direction. Regularly interacts with support staff and tenants.
