We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Financial Analyst-Financial Planning.
Working under the guidance of the Director of Financial Planning, the senior analyst will support the development of the strategic financial plan for the health system, develop business plans for healthcare initiatives, collect /prepare revenue & cost data and assist in the preparation of financial analysis for all levels of management in support of operational objectives and cost management opportunities.
Work with managers, directors and storefronts across Finance, Hospital, School of Medicine and affiliates to ensure that the planning and forecasting responsibilities of NYU Langone Health are met.
Work with Financial Planning team, Decision Support, IT and Budget to maintain / update the Rolling Forecast and Long Range Financial Plan.
Deliver financial insight to leadership by continuously evaluating the financial well-being of the Health System.
Understand financial planning technologies and methodologies, possess an overall understanding of complex financial models and perform scenario / sensitivity analysis on planning assumptions.
Work with storefronts and senior hospital leadership to develop and update volume / utilization projections and forecast.
Work with Decision Support team to leverage their input and data within the forecasting tool.
Assist in the research and development of industry, economic and demographic assumptions that will need to be incorporated into the health system modeling.
Assist in creation of finance planning templates for existing service lines and any new programs and ensure PeopleSoft G/L & EPSi Decision Support data is entered accurately in models within Hyperion Essbase & Strategic Finance planning tools.
Review and identify revenue and expense variances; communicate with the budget, reimbursement and respective departments to understand the variances.
Assist in planning for and aligning of financial planning processes during affiliations and/or mergers to ensure that they are standardized, consistent, and efficient.
Understand and develop key performance indicators for the hospital and School of Medicine.
Prepare benchmark analysis comparing financials, metrics and key performance indicators for competitors and other leaders in the healthcare market place.
Maintain appropriate documentation on all forecast assumptions.
Review feasibility studies.
Works independently and prioritizes tasks to meet assigned deadlines.
Assist with special projects as needed.
Must have a Bachelor's degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) and at least 2 year of related experience, with at least a year of experience with Financial Planning.
Experience with Financial Planning software is required.
Other minimum qualifications include: excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a comprehensive knowledge all applications within Microsoft Office.
Healthcare finance background is preferred.
Experience with Oracle Hyperion Essbase or Hyperion Strategic Finance strongly preferred.
A graduate degree in business or public administration is preferred.
