We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lead Network Engineer
Reporting to the Director of Network Engineering, this position is responsible for systems engineering, design, and planning for enterprise ip network solutions. This position works closely with Systems Architects to review and understand communications needs and traffic flows for applications and provide detailed design solutions for new and existing systems. Develops detailed systems documentation for implementation and operational support teams. Assists in troubleshooting system outages, and providing Tier III technical support escalation; also analyzes enterprise systems capacity issues and develops capacity planning models. Responsible for ensuring planned testing activities are executed and for developing network guidelines.
Conducts short- and long-term planning to meet network requirements.
Designs and implements network systems.
Strong working familiarity with Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring Cisco Routers, and Switches.
Provides support for network connectivity or related network issues for the user community.
Plans and monitors the installation of network systems.
Analyzes network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance.
Trouble shoot, diagnose and resolve network problems. Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any network deficiencies or to enhance network performance.
Analyzes facilities bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies. Develops capacity planning models.
Ensures planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met.
Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides network planning recommendations to management.
Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changes.
Knowledge of Enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Infoblox NetMRI, Cisco PRIME, SolarWinds, SevOne, Wireshark, and others.
Must have a BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
Ten years or more of relevant IT work experience in the Networking Field.
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or at a minimum Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
Strong hands on experience with Cisco IOS, Cisco hardware, IP Routing and Switching. Additionally, should have MPLS experience, working knowledge of IP Firewalls, IP Load balancers and IP Multicast.
Strong working knowledge and experience with systems design in the following technologies: TCP/IP, Cisco IOS, LAN/WAN, Service Provider/Extranet networks, Ethernet switching, BGP, EIGRP, SNMP, VPN, MPLS, VRF, Traffic Engineering, IPSEC, etc.
At least five years experience working with Cisco Nexus Platform, both virtual and non-virtual, Cisco ASR/ISR routers, Cisco Catalyst Switches, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Riverbed, Infoblox/QIP, Network Monitoring Tools.
Knowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, TACACS+, VPN and NAC.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to provide the non-technical explanation of technology for nontechnical managers, directors and above. Great people skills are a must.
