Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Enterprise Architect is responsible for setting technology strategy, drive implementation of emerging technologies and operationalizing best practices within the respective technology domain; enabling NYU Langone Health to become a world class integrated academic medical center and a nationally acknowledged leader in IT. The Architect will have responsibility for the following areas: Developing Technology strategy, standards and roadmap for core infrastructure technologies; Interface with application owners to align priority, help set priorities within their area of technology, define Infrastructure strategies, perform assessments followed by implementation of best practices, and be the liaison to key strategic partners/vendors to ensure technology roadmaps are maintained. As the Architect, the individual is responsible for maintaining awareness of technologies pertinent to the Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT) goals and objectives. The Architect will work collaboratively with all constituents from the MCIT community and serve a tech leadership function for the effective use of technologies to maintain world-class operations and delivery of solutions. The Architect drives the technology solution set and architectural design of the Infrastructure Strategic Plan, as well as assists with tactical decisions. There is a matrixed relationship between the CTO and the Infrastructure group; it will be necessary to work together to define and maintain the overall architecture. Infrastructure architect will align deliverables to meeting the enterprise objectives through leveraging the technical environment and architecture. The Architect will participate on various MCIT operations, advisory committees, and lead/participate in the Joint Architecture Design Review Board (Technology Governance Body). The Architect will advise Infrastructure leadership on IT actions to accomplish business goals and objectives. The Architect works with the management team within IT Infrastructure to develop solutions, projects, assist in setting priorities and annual budgets. The Architect may also act as liaison with outside vendors and represent Infrastructure within the technology areas. Scope of technology oversight for Infrastructure Domain includes: Server, Storage, Virtualization, Desktop, Data Base, Operations Best Practice (Patch Management), Server based security, Systems risk management and Enterprise Monitoring Tools & Technologies, and DR planning, Solution Architecture review and governance. Scope of technology oversight for Application Domain includes: Security platforms, Identity and Access Management systems, Active Directory, O365, Salesforce, Epic, Clinical Ancillaries, Research Applications, High Performance Computing, Ancillaries, Corporate Applications including Peoplesoft HR, Finance and Procurement. Job Responsibilities: - Act as key strategic advisor to MCIT Leadership Team, IT Architecture council, and other key stakeholders regarding Technology and Information strategy and trends, EA, and Best practices/Governance.
- Ensure architecture as a core competency within NYU Langone Health by driving necessary architecture related training programs and communication within MCIT as well as with other stakeholders within NYU Langone Health.
- Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for enterprise architecture vision and standards in conjunction with business partners , IT, and other key stakeholders.
- Define the target enterprise architecture at NYU Langone Health using standard Enterprise Architecture frameworks, methodologies, and artifacts.
- Establish relevant Measurements and Metrics to manage Enterprise Architecture program. Establish and lead Architecture governance program.
- Ensure the success of enterprise-level application rollouts Identify and develop opportunities for data and application reuse, migration, or retirement.
- Assist project teams to select the products or services that best meet NYU Langone Health goals.
- Define and Manage Technical standards and roadmaps for various technology domains. Create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall enterprise architecture roadmap.
- Provide expertise in the development of work-flow driven IT strategy in conjunction with Enterprise Life Cycle development and implementation, including strategic support for EA and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI).
- Collaborate with other architects to ensure successful implementation of strategies and architectures related to Unified Communication, Security, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Storage, End User Computing, Mobility and social media as related to NYU Langone Health Information Architecture & Management.
- Develop and promote data management methodologies and standards. Select and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals.
- Aid technology domains in driving operational excellence through institution of agile processes and technologies to drive quick provisioning, accurate configurations, repeatable processes/implementations
- Collaborate with infrastructure leadership and engineers teams in trouble shooting outages, RCAs to improve infrastructure resiliency.
Minimum Qualifications: - B.S. degree in information systems, computer science or related field.
- 15+ years in technology management in related specialties with intimate knowledge of distributed systems technologies such as server, storage, desktop, enterprise monitoring tools architecture.
- Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives.
- Industry vendor knowledge and established relationships.
- Effective speaker, collaborative worker and good writing skills.
- Able to translate complex technical information and implications in business oriented language.
- Experience with enterprise Architecture Review Board and governance structure.
- Demonstrates broad knowledge across multiple technologies.
- Deep knowledge of virtualization technologies in the following platforms (Windows, Unix, Aix), and storage technologies (direct and indirect mapping, IBM-SVC) and replication technologies.
- Understanding of Storage technologies with HP 3PAR/EMC Isilon & UCS/NetAPP File systems storage/Hitachi Data Systems Storage systems/Cloud based services and integration with cloud/hybrid models.
- Must possess intimate knowledge of ESX environment, clustering technologies, HP/EMC storage capacity management and operations best practice, and Cloud Based systems such as BOX, Salesforce, O365, AWS, DevOps, IaaS, PaaS, and equivalent enterprise level systems and Architecture.
- Knowledge of Desktop technologies and enterprise monitoring tools such as Altiris, Solar Wind, HP Director, Storage analytic tools and other industry technologies.
- Deep knowledge of active directory services and disaster recovery of systems and under-pinning technologies and dependent systems.
- Working knowledge of various Data Base technologies (SQL, MYSQL, Oracle, CACHE).
- Authentication and remote access technologies.
- Industry experience with multiple vendors as well as having connectivity with various forums and experts.
- Knowledge of developing, setting and driving standards while operationalizing various technologies.
- Ability to work across disciplines and in a matrix environment to deliver results through influence.
- Demonstrates tech leadership for the respective technologies.
- Demonstrates collaborative leadership and be the advocate for MCIT.
Preferred Qualifications: - Industry Certifications a plus: (MCSE, EMC, HP, HDS)
- Health care experience a plus; understanding of the requirements of an integrated academic medical center, Epic EMR ; Clinical Ancillaries and Radiology IT a plus.
