DUTIES: Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Quality Officer will bring medical expertise and strategic vision to all aspects of hospital quality and safety. The successful candidate will be a leader with deep clinical knowledge, a passion for quality and safety and the skills and experience to drive continuous improvement throughout inpatient and outpatient service areas of the medical center. The Chief Quality Officer will serve as the hospital's lead physician in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI). The Chief Quality Officer will provide direct oversight of the following UHB Medical Staff activities: quality management and regulatory affairs as it pertains to quality. This includes TJC preparedness, CMS and NYS DOH quality metrics. The Chief Quality Officer will also assist the Chief Medical Officer in the supervision of case management, utilization management, health information management, credentialing and other medical staff functions carried out by Medical Board Office personnel. Along with the Chief Medical Officer, the Chief Quality Officer will serve as a liaison between UHB management and the medical staff and faculty leadership for the above referenced activities, as they pertain to Quality Management. The Chief Quality Officer is a key member of the UHB senior leadership team and, as such, will participate in operational and leadership forums at the discretion of the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Executive Officer. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Preferably an MD or a Master's degree in Public Health or Business/Public Administration required. A current and active NYS medical license required. Board certification in specialty and sub-specialty, as appropriate. A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience as a Medical Director or in a medical management position in a complex healthcare environment, preferably an urban academic teaching hospital. Knowledge of basic information technology and experience with data, analysis, interpretation and education.
