Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Dosimetrist.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for general radiation treatment planning, documentation and quality assurance of the patient treatment plans. Has the training and expertise necessary to measure and generate dose distributions and calculations for adult and pediatric patients under the direction of the Radiation Oncology Physicist and the Radiation Oncologist. This may include either external beam radiation or brachytherapy. The dosimetrist must follow the direction of the prescribing physician in developing an appropriate treatment plans and dose so under the supervision of the physicist.
Treatment Planning: Identifies and contours critical structures as needed. Follows established policies and procedures as they relate to each treatment site. Follows established dose constraints.
Documentation: All paperwork and electronic forms are complete, signed and labeled accordingly. Procedure codes are complete, timely and accurate. Documents, dates, and approves all treatment setup parameters. Documentation for clinical trials and protocols is coordinated with appropriate parties. Demonstrates ability to multi-task.
Planning and Time utilization: Work is thought out and planned in advance and successfully implemented. Coordinates own work to achieve efficiency and quality patient care. Work is completed in a timely manner, meeting deadlines.
Initiative: Makes suggestions for positive changes. Demonstrates ability to understand tasks and creatively apply solutions. Demonstrates ability to adopt and help develop new physics initiatives and policies. Readily accepts new assignments and responsibilities. Recognizes when help is needed by others and offers guidance and assistance. Takes ownership of plans and associated tasks to prevent issues that may delayed patient treatment
Participation in training of Residents and Students: Assists in the training of Medical and Physics Residents and RTT Students on use of Eclipse or ARIA, principles of treatment planning. Participates in research protocols.
Participates in in-service programs and conferences: Attends all required department in-service meetings/ WebEx. Attends annual billing/documentation/safety classes/ WebEx. Attends annual Radiation Safety in-service. Maintains CMD certification.
All other related duties as required. Keep physics supervisory staff informed of planning and linac issues. Reports Medical Events to the Director of Physics.
Coverage: Willing and able to provide occasional coverage at satellite locations and evening coverage at primary campus.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor of Science degree. Well-developed communications and computer skills
MDCB Certified; Graduate of a JRCERT Medical Dosimetry Program
