Primary Purpose: The Residence Director is a twelve-month, live-in, full-time position within the Residential Life team. Under the supervision of an Assistant Director for Residential Life, the Residence Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive community and residential curriculum for a specific area of campus (residence hall or apartment community).
As a member of the department's professional staff team, the Residence Director assumes leadership responsibilities at the departmental level, including working with and chairing residential life committees, supervising special projects, and undertaking special assignments. The Residence Director has a significant role in assisting in, and the execution of departmental tasks, such as: selection, training, and supervision training of residential life staff, planning and implementation of the residential curriculum, upholding community standards, leadership development, student care and crisis management, and administrative-related duties.
Essential Functions: 1. Supervises, trains, develops, and evaluates paraprofessional Assistant Residence Directors, Greek Community Assistants, and Resident Assistants by providing on-going training and facilitating development plans for these direct reports.
2. Develops residential community by overseeing area implementation and evaluation of Residential Life curriculum and related student engagement activities and initiatives, including the overall management and assessment of programmatic objectives in assigned community.
3. Administers program budget for assigned residential community. Serves as the primary purchaser for communitys programming needs (responsible for managing university procurement card).
4. Assists with the development of other student leadership experiences, including, but not limited to hall government.
5. Supports the personal, social, and academic development of residential students through coordination and communication with Student Academic Support Services, Services for Students with Disabilities, Counseling and Psychological Services, Cowell Wellness, and Intercultural Student Success.
6. Serves as part of the Residential Life and Housing team to devise, execute, and evaluate departmental goals, policies, organization and programs.
7. Serves as chair or member for Residential Life committees and / or support Residential Life special projects, (e.g., Student Staff Selection, Student Staff Training, advising RHA, advising NRHH, advising NRAP delegation, etc.).
8. Serves as a Student Conduct Hearing Officer and adjudicates cases addressing alleged violations to residential and university policies for incidents occurring in residential communities.
Residence Director, Residential Life:
9. Oversees administration of Residential Life and Housing processes and procedures at the hall level. Processes include: fire drills, health and safety inspections, room verifications and opening and closing procedures.
10. Represents the department on University committees and on special projects as needed.
11. Serves as a member of the on-call team providing daily, evening, weekend, and campus closure on-call coverage that includes community and campus-wide responsibilities. Responds as first on-campus contact for crisis intervention and management for campus community while on-call and notifies appropriate staff members regarding crisis situations as part of the larger University emergency response team/system.
12. Complies with federal and state requirements for reporting, including serving as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) for all Clery Act reportable crimes, Mandated Reporter under CANRA, and Responsible Employee under Title IX.
13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree and experience in residential life, housing and student life experience required.
Masters degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field and two (2) years of residential life experience.
Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Administrative, planning, and programming skills.
Computer literacy (word processing, spread sheets, data base management; Banner/RMS/Maxient experience desirable).
Demonstrated skill in staff selection, training, development, and supervision.
Ability to oversee and administer area budget.
Familiarity of student conduct practices, restorative practices, and student conduct review.
Ability to set goals and priorities, make reasoned and balanced decisions in moderately complex situations, and meet internal and University deadlines.
General knowledge of interviewing, crisis intervention, and counseling techniques.
Positive attitude and proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.

Hiring Range: Min $17.17 per hour to Mid $22.48 per hour, non-exempt
