This position is responsible for the supervision ofresidence halls to include oversight and coordination of student employees,safety, student activities, student conduct, and administrative duties.Responsibilities include:
Student Development: overseeing residentialcurriculum initiatives with assigned apartment complex; mediating conflictsbetween roommates and residents; providing effective community buildingcomponents that support residential curriculum within complex; participating inand supporting department wide programs; supervising staff to ensure thatprogram requirements are met; informing residents of departmental and studentcode of conduct policies; enforcing and reporting policy violations; performingconduct hearings for minor violations and adjudicate sanctions and trackingjudicial cases within a database system; responding to emergency or crisissituations; participating in on-call duty rotation (including holidays); monitoringand maintaining security procedures for residence halls; serving as a resourceto students for concerns related to college life.
Staff Supervision and Development: recruiting,interviewing, training, and supervising 10-15 student staff within assignedcomplex; training and supervising at least one full-time support staff;conducting individual meetings, staff meetings and regular evaluations;providing positive feedback and motivation; providing and participating inongoing training and staff development.
Administration: responsible for managing 1-2apartment complexes which house 400-600 students; performing functions withinassigned residence hall to include, but not limited to, coordinating complexhealth and safety inspections; completing staff payroll; verifying keyinventory; mail distribution; and housing tours; maintaining office hours andresponding to student, parent, and stakeholder needs; providing weeklyinspections of facilities and follow-up to ensure work is completed;coordinating the check-in and check-out processes and assisting in room changeprocess and room selection; attending residence life staff, departmental, anddivisional meetings; chairing and serving on departmental committees andspecial projects.
This is alive-in position, and compensation includes a furnished apartment.
