Posting Summary: Elson Student Health is seeking a part-time Triage Nurse for the General Medicine Clinic. Working as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Triage Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive professional nursing care to students experiencing both acute and non-acute illness, and those seeking health maintenance services. Following established protocols, the successful candidate must be able to rapidly asses, prioritize, and initiate care for both telephone and walk-in patients, provide health screening and immunizations, assist with care for previously scheduled patients, and those requiring prolonged observation and treatment. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, the ability to function independently, and respond to rapidly changing situations. A minimum of 1 to 4 years is required in an ambulatory setting with a primary care focus, Urgent Care Center or Emergency Department. Prior experience in College Health, Family Medicine or Pediatrics is preferred. This position is for 16 to 32 hours/week.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Required License or Certification: Licensed as an RN with eligibility to work in the state of Virginia. CPR-BLS Certified
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated competency in the ability to rapidly prioritize both acutely ill and non-acute patients, initiate treatment following established protocols, coordinate care, effectively respond to rapidly changing situations; administer oral, intramuscular, and intravenous medications; establish intravenous therapy, and perform office basic procedures required for the provision of care to college age students
