Full Time 40 hours Grade 094 Medicine SMH Cardiology Schedule 7AM-5PM; WKENDS/HOL (ON-CALL) Responsibilities Position Summary: Performs a variety of complex technical assignments for Cardiology in both a clinical and laboratory setting; serves a diverse adult patient population. Exercises a high degree of skill and judgment and an understanding of patient care procedures performed both in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and the Cardiothoracic Surgery Operating Room. Specific Responsibilities: Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and under the general direction of an individual with supervisory authority or physician staff: Collect, record and organize physiologic data and patient demographic data; use computer area network system to record data, diagnostic profiles and prepare reports for physician completion and sign-off; record, maintain and finalize report log on each patient procedure performed in the lab for the medical record; maintain clinical/procedural database; record and maintain record of fluoro usage in compliance with NYS regulations. In conjunction with physician: perform set-up and operation of single and bi-plane fluoroscopy, and digital image acquisition enhancement and storage equipment; reformat and record data for referring physicians or alternate referral centers; maintain laboratory image database. Perform complex diagnostic procedures on adult patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Procedures may include hemodynamic value determinations; waveform analysis and interpretation; blood gas analysis; clotting factor analysis; assistance with pressure lesion analysis and IVUS. Assist with complex procedures and balloon pump or impella insertions and monitoring Perform set-up, operation, maintenance and simple repair procedures on a variety of complex adult patient care and laboratory support equipment. Provide emergency on-call and weekend coverage on rotating schedule. Provide unscheduled emergency backup as needed and available. Assist in cases with physician as the second scrub role assistant for fluoroscopy and table movement along with sterile technique and assistance to the Primary Attending Physician. Able to perform as the first assistant in Cardiology Catheterization Cases under the supervision of the Attending Physician. Apply sterile technique and safety procedures. Qualifications: Satisfactory completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology, NYS Licensed. Prefer RCIS Certification. BLS and ACLS. One year of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of directly related education, knowledge and experience preferred. Meets ARRT continuing education requirements including 24 CE credits per biennium in order to maintain ARRT Certification.
