We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Analytics Lead.
The Hospital Performance & Analytics department (HP&A) serves as the liaison between operations and MCIT in creating and strengthening interdisciplinary teams to direct and inform organizational improvement initiatives through analytics. The analytics lead will partner with operational departments and collaborate with leadership and stakeholders throughout the organization to support their needs for informed decision- making by providing training and business intelligent tools in the development of key metrics and analyses. As part of the analytical team consisting of IT developers, architects and operational business owners, the role of the analytics lead will be to coordinate all team activities in translating the operational department’s needs into analytical solutions that contribute to sound strategic planning, decision-making, goal setting, and effective performance measurement.
Lead the analytical team in assessing the reporting and analytical needs of the operational departments.
Provide analytical support and to hospital operational departments and health system – wide initiatives in the development of metrics that monitor performance
Participate in dashboard design and development and governance process of organizational metrics
Collaborate with MCIT in developing and maintaining standardization of reporting processes driven by strategic and business needs and designed to ensure data and reporting consistency throughout the organization.
Responsible for the timely development, posting and distribution of performance management tools and oversight of associate performance analyst in the completion of the process.
Meet with department leadership, business owner and analysts and review analytical needs in supporting their performance goals. Inventory current data availability including reports and business intelligent tools such as Dashboards and Scorecards. Determine data access and training needs of data bases and analytical tools. Develop a project plan outlining solutions such as development of metrics, scorecards, dashboards and reports. Assign tasks to team members with timeline of completion dates of deliverables. Document report requirements utilizing tools to ensure proper documentation of specs and consistent reporting and methodology.
Provide organizational analyses as requested by leadership in the support of key initiatives. Provide guidance to ensure departments have proper access and training to appropriate database and reporting tools to complete their department level analyses. Utilize analytical reporting / BI tools in designing reports, scorecards and dashboards to provide the appropriate detail information to diagnose reasons for unfavorable performance. Analyze data for performance trends and opportunities for improvement based on sound scientific methodology and statistical methods. Keep abreast of new developments, techniques and methods regarding technical solutions in supporting performance management systems. Present and publish key findings that will support achievement of organizational goals in clinical, operational and financial performance
Collaborate with MCIT in building dashboards and scorecards through compiling and documenting business requirements and develop dashboard mock up and design specs. Ensure standardization with other dashboards. Participate in the governance of metrics by preparing definitions with business owners for presentation to the Reporting & Metrics Subcommittee and publishing metrics in the Web-based Business Glossary that will ensure consistent reporting. Facilitate interdisciplinary meetings in the development of metric targets that will assist leadership and departments in achieving their goals. Perform necessary research including literary searches in the development and tracking of performance metrics and for benchmarking data.
Collaborate with MCIT in the development of various processes that will provide efficiencies, standardization, and communication to users and improved customer service. This can include: a data validation procedure for business owners to identify issues and incorporation of a change management process; development of a dashboard request, prioritization and access processes and communication to users of policies; and creation of a technical specification and requirement form for dashboard and metrics in ensuring accurate and consistent methodology and reporting. Work with data architect in maintaining the enterprise data warehouse to include the necessary data fields used for accurate methodology of metrics . Participate in the evaluation of new tools that support health care systems and governance.
Work with business owners in the timely dashboard posting of Performance Management tools including the Hospital Performance Scorecard as well as other tools that seek increased throughput, productivity and operational efficiencies. Collaborate and facilitate meetings with other departments including IT and Finance in developing and addressing issues with performance management systems. Assist in facilitating standing interdisciplinary meetings to review data quality or system design and functionality issues. Act as a resource to dashboard users and provide training to hospital department managers in the utilization of performance management tools. Prepare and distribute standing and ad hoc reports. Ensure reports meet quality standards that are appropriate for presentation to Senior Leadership, Hospital Administration, and Department Managers at various committee meetings.

Must have a Master’s degree or currently enrolled in business administration, computer science, health care administration, or related field.
Minimum of three years’ experience in an analytical role with demonstrated knowledge of financial concepts, statistical analysis and software applications. Experience in Healthcare with EPIC is a plus
Experience in managing project teams and working with professionals with a variety of skills and backgrounds.
Good business sense with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of Excel required with experience in other data analysis and Business Intelligence tools (Business Objects and Tableau preferred). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
