Advertised Summary Job Description: This position will oversee the performance of the revenue cycle operation for the Department of Emergency Medicine. The manager will supervise staff responsible for accounts receivable, customer service, charge entry, time of service payment posting and IDX related edits.
Job Responsibilities include: The Billing Manager will reach and trend daily and monthly key performance indicators in relation to the revenue cycle. Help establish reporting communication to both the department administrator and division administrator for front end activity, charge entry, and A/R revenue. The Manager will be responsible for recommending ongoing improvements to further enhance revenue cycle performance in the department. They will evaluate existing processes and develop/implement policies where needed. Works with the Emergency Department as a whole to implement a standardized 'Best Practice' approach. Collaborates with the office coordinators to ensure that the front-end staff are collecting required payments, verifying insurance and processing required authorizations. Ensures that system tools, such as IDX scheduling and EMR, are utilized to the fullest by the department. Manager will also serve as the department's vendor relations manager to further enhance revenue cycle performance. They will work closely with the department's Business office and Apollo to reconcile bank revenue and time of service receipts. Administrative Duties / Coverage: Act as a representative for the department on University wide committees. The manager will also supervise central billing staff and monitor the performance of practice based billing. Comply with all HIPPA regulations, as well as all compliance and safety guidelines. Comply with all hospital, department and division policies and procedures. Demonstrate effective organization and interpersonal skills to create a team environment and an efficient work flow.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
