Full Time 40 hours Grade 055 Emergency Research Admin Schedule 8 AM-5 PM Responsibilities General Purpose: Serves at the senior professional level reporting to the Program Administrator in the Department of Emergency Medicine to provide administrative and managerial support for the Department of Emergency Medicine Research Division in the areas of grant administration, research operations and strategic planning. This includes planning, directing and coordinating all phases of the fiscal, administrative, and personnel functions for the division. These responsibilities will include: (a) overseeing central research resources (b) liaison with and extensive contact with other University and Medical Center departments as well as research sponsors and regulatory agencies, (c) representing the division to outside organizations involved in research, (d) acting as a resource in working with other departments of the University and Medical Center. Specific Responsibilities Under general direction from the Program Administrator and Research Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative, the Administrator will: Assist research faculty with research development, including RSRB application guidance, technology transfer, and operational issues. Work with faculty in initiating, formulating and organizing written proposals for research grants and contracts. Develop and review budgets for new proposals, competitive renewals and continuation applications. Assist in preparing progress reports. Function as liaison with University officials and granting agency officials, including auditors. Supervise the regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with University and government regulations related to sponsored programs requirements. Administer and support the research activities of the Department including the administrative and programmatic support for research activities in order to effectively manage available resources (personnel, office and lab space needs, purchases of supplies, computers and equipment). Manage, oversee, and coordinate all research support staff in the Department of Emergency Medicine to ensure compliance with regulations and continuing career development. Identify and pursue funding opportunities for the Department of Emergency Medicine. Provide professional direction in identifying funding opportunities for investigators, and assemble and coordinate workgroups of faculty and staff to apply for funding opportunities. Coordinate aspects of grant development within the Department of Emergency Medicine, including writing and maintaining support sections of the grant and assisting with obtaining ORPA approval. Prepare analytical reports of the progress of research within the Department. Requirements Bachelorâ™s degree with course work in an appropriate health, social or technical field required and 5 yearsâ™ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Masterâ™s preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively network within and outside the University and the ability to develop detailed written proposals Excellent staff management and development skills Strong computer skills, including the ability to use Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Writer, and other software packages Knowledge of finance/accounting. CLASP certification required. 3 years of research administration experience in sponsored programs desired
