The Department of Pathology, University of Maryland School of Medicine invites applicants with a M.D. degree to apply for a full-time Assistant Professor faculty position in the School of Medicine. Clinical responsibilities for the position are with Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine in the Department of Pathology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. This is a very active transfusion medicine service that transfuses approximately 72,000 units of blood products per year. The transfusion medicine service and critical care units in the Department of Medicine support nationally recognized Centers and comprehensive and innovative medical and surgical services, including the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, organ transplant service, critical intensive care units and is involved in multi-institutional clinical trials. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

The applicant should have board certification/board eligibility in blood banking and transfusion medicine, and broad based experience in patient blood management, coagulation (preferred), evidence of scholarly achievements, experience in teaching and training of medical students, residents and fellows and a record of participation in peer-reviewed research.
