Full Time 40 hours Grade 050 ED Operations Support Schedule 7AM-6PM; WKENDS/HOL Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities: Using a collaborative approach aimed at meeting Medical Center, Emergency Department and Operations Division goals and objectives, incumbent will, Work with Hospital Stores and major vendors to oversee the process and perform duties related to the ordering, receipt and distribution of $3 million inventory of medically-related supplies for the Emergency Department Design, implement and manage processes related to maintenance, storage, training and operation of essential patient-care equipment Hire, develop and implement training programs for E.D. Stocking Technicians Provide daily supervision of E.D. Stocking Technicians Continually design and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve the effectiveness of E.D. Support Operations Serve as departmental representative as assigned by E.D. Administrator-Support Operations to Purchasing, Clinical Engineering, Value Analysis, Hospital Stores, Transportation, Environmental Services, Facilities, and other departments within the Medical Center as needed. Train, supervise, direct the E.D. Clintech lll in performance of daily scheduled duties as well as special projects and guidance in lead position duties for E.D. stockers. Specific Responsibilities: Under general direction from the E.D. Administrator-Support Operations with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative, the Supervisor will: Essential Duties Hire, evaluate performance and competencies, and supervise the E.D. Stocking Technicians to ensure that all areas of the department are stocked to meet medical and nursing expectations, including at least bedside carts, linen carts, suture carts, ENT/Eye Care carts, Central Line/Sepsis cart and orthopedic areas. Engage in corrective actions as appropriate. Assess and analyze supply needs for more than 200 special order items, restocking items as required by clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care. Oversee ordering, receipt and distribution of specific medical supplies, analyzing and adjusting quantities, dealing with suppliers, receiving and/or distribution issues as required. Serve as the departmentâ™s liaison with Value Analysis, Hospital Stores, Hospitalâ™s Primary medical supply distributor, and other contracted vendors/suppliers, Environmental Services, Facilities, Security and Materials Processing. Daily QA check of patient care rooms/areas (and incorporated equipment) to ensure that all areas are supplied, organized and ready to meet the needs of in-coming patients. Identify and implement correction plans as needed. Daily assessment condition of storeroom areas and contents, ensuring that material is readily available for use and easily found by medical and nursing staff. Identify and implement correction plans as needed. Dailey assessment of medical equipment to ensure in proper working condition and in designated areas; that medical equipment is approved for use and inspected as required by the hospital. Work with Clinical engineering to ensure equipment is repaired, replaced, or loaner unit is provided in timely manner. Identify and implement correction plans as needed. Perform daily inventory of ED Pyxis units to ensure that specific special-order medical supplies are in good supply; daily check and document of patient-care-related refrigerator units to ensure temperatures are within required ranges. Develop Support Operations Division procedures, job descriptions, orientation programs and manuals to ensure that all operational aspects are adequately documented, updated and communicated General Operations â“ Oversee twice yearly inventory of special-order supplies and submit report to appropriate administrative and finance functions. Develop and implement strategies to continually improve department support operations so that the ED medical and nursing staffs can effectively and efficiently provide quality care. Design, implement and measure the effectiveness of staff education and orientation programs related to operational aspects of the Emergency Department, including equipment, supplies, patient belongings and facilities/environment. Establish methods to assess and improve the effectiveness of ED Support Operations and of other medical center services that impact the ED (e.g. Environmental Services, Materials Management, Security, Facilities) Requirements: Bachelorâ™s degree with course work in health care, human services, or materials management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer two years supervisory experience in a health care setting, or associates degree with similar course work, and three years supervisory experience in a health care setting. Experience on an internet ordering and inventory management system a plus.
