STAFF NURSE - BHS SERVICE WITHOUT TERRITORY (SWOT)
Specific Function and Responsibility of BHS SWOT STN:
Under limited supervision, perform transient assignments to facilitate patient throughput, provide short-term support for patients with behavioral issues and the staff assigned to these patients, assist with admitting patients, and serves as a resource and leader for other members of the patient care team throughout UIHC.
Complete multiple transient assignments as directed by the House Operations Manager (HOM). Will cover short term staffing and/or patient care needs related to behavioral health patients on adult inpatient units or the Emergency Department (ED). Each assignment should last no more than approximately two (2) hours.
Assist with admissions and discharges on units receiving bolus patient admits or discharges.
Assist the ED when they experience an influx of behavioral health patient admits.
As much as possible, respond to all Code Greens, assuming a leadership role, for nursing, during those events.
Accompany and monitor behavioral health patients to tests, procedures as needed, this would include, but is not limited to, transport to MRI, CT or Nuclear Medicine; or procedure areas such as heart and vascular center, digestive disease center or urology.
In relation to behavioral health patients, be a resource in Identify critical changes in patient's status, notify appropriate personnel or take immediate action as indicated by patient's condition, including deviation from the prescribed chain of command.
Serve as expert and resource to staff regarding questions regarding the care of patients with behavioral health concerns.
