Essential Functions: Serve as research nurse to conduct clinical research trials within the Department of Emergency Medicine with responsibility to coordinate and conduct studies accurately, on schedule and, most importantly, that study subjects are cared for appropriately during their participation and subjects' rights are protected.The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating the regulatory and contractual aspects of associated projects, and will screen and enroll subjects in clinical trials. Specific duties include: Work closely with the other WSU Department of Emergency Medicine clinical research staff. Maintain a working knowledge of all federal regulations and good clinical practices as related to clinical research and insuring all studies are in compliance with federal regulations and university policies. Initiate, complete, and maintain regulatory documents and contracts for clinical studies. Screen and enroll subjects in all Emergency Medicine conducted clinical trials. This includes being available during "off-hours" (defined as any time during the day/night). This is critical since many emergency subjects are enrolled in studies during the "off-hours" times. Perform all other research nurse related duties including accurate and complete documentation, timely completion of all research related documents. Ensure all subjects' rights are observed and are considered to be of utmost importance, and that study subjects are cared for appropriately during their participation and subjects' rights are protected.
Qualifications: RN/BSN Bachelor's degree required. Active or eligible for Michigan Registered Nurse License. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Research experience or the ability to rapidly learn the research related duties outlined above. Ability to work both independently and with other clinical research physicians and employees.
